What are you looking for, as a volunteer?
I know that people volunteer for all sorts of reasons, but I'm really interested in hearing different views on what volunteers hope to get out of their chosen project. What attracts you to choose a particular project over all the others?

I actually participated in a project which involved in making the surroundings green, remove all the trash. The place I reside needs few changes to encourage clean and green city. I participated in this project while in college and it was helpful to great extent to make my city green.

But why would you choose one environmental project over another Mick? And is there something that you gain from the volunteering apart from satisfaction? Perhaps experience for your CV? Finding new friends maybe?
If I were trying to attract your attention, what would I have to offer, as a voluntary body?

Re: What are you looking for, as a volunteer?
For me it's not only helping the natural world, but getting back to the natural world. I'm from the country, and now I love in the city, and when I volunteer, even if it's just the tiniest green space, I look to feel like I'm home, like I'm back in a world before skyscrapers. I love the feeling of dirt and the sound of birds and the beauty of trees and the smell of rain in the air. I love it. And whether it's building trails, planting seeds or picking up trash, I just want to be back home, that home we all share.

For me it would be doing something with people. I can only change things in my own small way, but if we all do that it will make a big difference. I think working with people is a good way to influence others to take better care of the environment. I have worked as a volunteer for many years, as a Youth Worker and as a school governor.

For me, it has to be something that I have a passion for. If I am interested in the topic at hand, then I will easily go looking for ways to volunteer.

We volunteer here at the senior center. I started doing it to show my son's that it is nice to take some of your time to help out others. I would like to do more volunteering with my sons.

I got a chance to plant trees, as of in India there isn't much place where we can clearly view trees around, most of the area is having homes that are cutting down the trees in order to build their homes. This is causing imbalance of the environment.

I worked as a mentor for high school kids in the past that needed positive role models. I've also worked in youth clubs and with the elderly, spending time with people that had no visitors. I just like people I guess and want to help make a difference if I can.
