Link to their homepage WWOOF Independents - home page. In the Uk I think it costs £20 for a years membership and then you get a list of all the placements and general WWOOF news.

Sorry, one final thing (I should think more before pressing send). Generally placements are for a minimum of a week, (although there are a few places that will take you for a weekend) but there are also much longer term positions, and even a few paid jobs.

Re: Planting Trees?
Here is the Web site where people can log in and pledge to plant trees (in 2007): UNEP-BillionTree Campaign Site
In case you would like to track trees pledged by members of this community, Raptor, I pledged to plant five next year.

Hey, I'd plant a tree or 2 any day. Just tell me where and when.

Planting Trees?
I've done the Arbor Day thing twice. The trees they send you are only about a foot tall. The first time I gave them away to whoever would take them, so I don't know what happened to them. The second set (which was actually lilac bushes; the foundation gives you lots of choices) I planted in the garden where I used to live until they got established, then transplanted them to the fence line of the property. When I moved they were 7 or 8 feet tall and growing together to form a nice privacy barrier.
I bet you Toronto members could find a nursery to sell you baby trees like this for very little money--especially if you were interested in doing a mass planting where the trees don't have to be aesthetically perfect.

I had posted an article recently in the general discussion area about planting trees. I found it in a local free paper. When I come across it, I'll transplant it over here(no pun intended)

I've been wondering what would be the best type of tree to plant. According to this site, on average, deciduous trees produce more oxygen than conifers: EnviroZine - Issue 58 - You Asked Us

I was just browsing this site after coming across it on craigslist, and I felt the need to reply. I actually WWOOFed throughout New Zealand and it was a great experience. AND I spent a weekend with one of the hosts helping plant Kaori trees as part of a reforestation project, so if there is WWOOF in your area, it's something to look into.
