Everyone is trying to save the Earth in their own way. The United Nations wants to plant nine billion trees by the end of 2009, other websites work to provide rice to people (FreeRice.com) who need it, while others help out the environment through clicking buttons that pay money to causes by sponsors (Care2.com).
It turns out, there is another way to help the environment and this time you can look good while you do it. Tees for Change has pledged to plant a tree for every shirt or onesie that you purchase through them. The owner of the business created it to help promote healthy minds and bodies, while at the same time helping to get rid of the negative images people have about going green and green lifestyles. We are not all hippies who live off the land. Some of us live in the cities and have regular jobs, but also want to make our lifestyls more eco-friendly.
Each shirt comes with a message on it like “Choose Happiness”, “Live Fully” and “Today Matters” and all the shirts are designed in happy colors to bring a smile to the face of anyone who sees them. In addition to that, they are made of 100 percent organic cotton that is grown in the United States, as well as soem shirts being made by 70 percent bamboo and 30 percent organic cotton.
I had mentioned months ago about a company called Trees For The Future, which plants trees from donations, and Tees For Change works with them to help plant the trees that they donate for their sales of shirts. Overall, Tees for Change has proven to be incredibly successful at planting trees. In 2008 alone, the company planted 10,000,000 trees in Asia, Latin America and Asia.
We all have to do some small things to help the Earth. Whether we are clicking buttons to save the rain forest, testing our word skills to donate rice to those who need it, or buying shirts to plant trees, we are all making a difference. Sure, planting one tree will not do much except take a small portion of CO2 out of the air. However, when ten million trees are planted, it makes a big change. All of us working together doing small things can create big changes.
