Why Choose Chemical Free Cosmetics?

Some of the top brand lipsticks contain lead…isn’t it shocking? According to The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, 61 percent of the 33 popular lipstick brands that they tested in October 2007 contained lead. Unfortunately, the laundry list of toxins in cosmetics doesn’t stop there. Some other makeup products contain alcohol, aluminum and formaldehyde, which you might be applying to your face every day. Obviously, these ingredients don’t belong on your face or in a landfill, so how you can avoid them and still be able to show your best side?

Unless you want to stop wearing makeup all together (which requires confidence on days when you have breakouts), chemical free cosmetics are your answer. Makeup with natural ingredients enables you to beautify your face and reduce your exposure to toxins that can easily be absorbed into your bloodstream. Who wants heavy metals in their body? Some people even experience asthmatic and allergic reactions to these ingredients. However, with chemical free cosmetics, you don’t have to risk your health or further contaminate the world in order to look polished.

Mineral makeup has become a popular alternative to liquid cosmetics, and it’s not just because they’re natural. They also enhance your skin, because they don’t clog your pores or irritate it with chemicals. When you’re looking for a safer makeup, you should steer clear of any of the following ingredients: lakes, dyes, fragrances, talcs or petroleum derivatives. Chemical free makeup has been used during the Egyptians when ochre and malachite was used as powder and kohl was used as eyeliner.

Although mineral makeup has a primitive beginning, it’s quality, effectiveness and sustainability has not changed. When you think about how many different cosmetics you have thrown out (either because they don’t work or are old), you might be surprised. Unfortunately, these chemically enhanced products are now in landfills where they have the potential to contaminate ground water.

There are so many benefits to choosing chemical free makeup. First, it preserves and protects your skin. Second, it has less of an impact on the environment. Third, it doesn’t make you risk your health in order to be beautiful. So why not give it a try?
