So practically everyone is going green these days – no matter where they are. And if they aren't then they sure should be!! We need to be mindful if we're at work, at home or at play...where ever you are..stay green and do your bit to contribute to the environment. Here are some tips on how to stay green while at work.

  • Try and recycle everything that is around you while at work, that includes any type of paper you encounter – faxes, junk mail, unwanted printer paper, envelopes etc. And other items as well such as staple pins, old pagers, paper clips. So before you get ready to thrash something in the garbage, ask yourself if it can be recycled.

  • Company cafeteria or mess, make sure there are thrash cans that separates recycled stuff – plastic cups, paper plates, tissue etc. Basically dry waste from wet waste. True this may be time consuming, but once it's a habit, it won't take a second of your time.

  • Actually it would be better if you get your own mug or glass or dish ware.

  • See that you have filtered water for drinking, provided at all suitable locations. This will reduce the waste produced by bottled water.

  • Before your ready to hit the print button, ask yourself if you really need to print it. Try and go paperless where ever possible. Also, rather than having printed copies of employee or instruction manuals, try using a soft copy, after all everyone is connected via the internet or intra net.

  • Turn off the computer when you leave. Many people have this bad habit of just logging off but not shutting down. This way you'll save valuable energy

  • Also remember to switch off the lights when you leave

  • Sure you want a clean office, doesn't everyone. But in you endeavor for cleanliness don't purchase or use toxic cleaning products. Try and use organic cleaning solutions

  • Instead of driving to work, check out if you can use the train or bus. If not possible, check if there's any way you can car pool
