Reusing Tissue Boxes

Everyone has tissue boxes in their home because from time to time, everyone needs to blow their nose. While you probably buy recycled tissue paper, what do you do with the tissue boxes? Why throw them away or recycle them before you can reuse them? Remember, it is important to reuse, then recycle.

So, what can you do with your tissue boxes before throwing them out? Here are just a few tips you can try.

  1. Put a tissue box in the car with a plastic bag liner inside of it. Then, put bits of garbage from your travels, including receipts, candy wrappers and more in this portable garbage can. When it is full, sort the garbage, recycle what you can and throw the rest away. Then put the portable garbage can back into your car. This is a great use for your old tissue boxes and you can continue to reuse the boxes over and over again.
  2. Do you love to cook? If you do, then why not turn your old tissue box into a place to store recipes? All you have to do is cut off the top of the tissue box (recycle it) and put some index cards made from recycled paper or scrap paper. At this point, you can write out your recipes on those pieces of paper and put them in the tissue box. This also makes it a nice portable recipe box that you can take with you when you visit someone, so you can share your wonderful recipes with them.
  3. If you have a dog, and that dog has a bunch of toys, then you may need somewhere to store those toys so you stop stepping on them. An old tissue box is perfect for this. You can put the toys in the box and store them there when the dog is not playing with them. On top of that, you can even teach your dog to take their toys back to the box when it is time to put them away.
  4. Lastly, you can use the tissue box to store reused paper for notes. If you need scrap paper for lists, messages and more, you can just go to your tissue box and grab the scrap paper out of it.

If you are going to do any of these things, you can also dress up the tissue box by putting things on the side to make it look more like what it is now being used for. If it is a dog toy box, put doggy things on the side. If it holds your recipes, dress it up so it looks like it belongs in the kitchen.

What a fine set of suggestions! I daresay I had never considered reusing the tissue boxes before I recycled them. I especially like the idea of a recipe box. How about a coupon box as well? Grand suggestions, Craig.

I loved the idea of using the tissue box as a mini garbage bin in the car…there are so many times when you want to throw the cany wrapper or something inside the car and cant…real nice to have an old tissue paper box around..

Very inventive ideas. There is just one small hiccup… Using plastic binliners in a cardboard box to make it into a bin…oops.. Doitwithout the plastic!
