Cut Through the Greenwash with Scryve

For many people price is no longer the only factor when buying goods – a company’s environmental and social policies also have a big influence, so to help consumers figure out which companies are on the good and the naughty lists, the website Scyrve have launched a web browser and web tools that show the CSR score of a business while you browse their web pages.

Once installed, users see a 1 to 10 (10 is best) company responsibility rating in the top right corner of their browser (whether the company wants it there or not). If you want to see why the company is rated that way, or if you want to see if the company takes care of the environment, its employees and the communities it serves, just click on the icon.

Over 3500 global companies are currently rated, and ratings are based on initial data provided by CSR analyst organization KLD, with website community feedback in a wiki style section also taken into account, although full references for information posted is required to provide accurate data.

As well as the browser, the scryve.com main site also has a search engine of the rated companies, so users can directly look up responsibility ratings on companies, products and brands, and easily find eco-friendly businesses.

Scrye was set up by two brothers, who when growing up, spent extended periods in third world countries, where they saw the effects that short sighted behavior could have on a community and the environment around it. As it is often the ones that do the worst and pay the least, that are rewarded with financial gain they started Scryve.com to show the full cost of buying from a company, so that individuals can chose if that’s a fair price to pay.
