There are so many treasures in the bathroom — scented hand lotion, luxurious body soaps, fun bath fizzies, etc. The problem is that it’s easy to let them build up and spoil before you have a chance to even use them. In an effort to use what you already own, consider these new uses for those goodies in the medicine cabinet.

Baby Oil Will Get You Out of the Worst Jams

Baby oil is originally intended to be a moisturizer for after the shower, because it relieves and prevents dry skin. However, this slippery substance can do more than just hydrate your skin.

The gentle oil is also great for removing latex paint when you get it onto your skin. Another way baby oil can be a lifesaver is when you’re trying to untangle those delicate necklace chains. With a dab of oil, you can loosen the knot and retrieve your jewelry from that wretched tangled mess. If you get a bandage or ring stuck on you, massage some baby oil onto your skin or finger for easy removal.

Dental Floss to the Rescue

Dental floss is perfect for removing debris from the spaces in between your teeth, but these minty strands can do more than that. Below are flossing tips your dentist never told you about.

When old photographs are stuck to album pages, slide a piece of floss under it to evenly break the photo from the page. This will prevent rips and tears in your memories. A strand of floss also comes in handy when you break a necklace or bracelet with beads, because you can thread the tiny charms onto the floss for safekeeping.

Floss is also helpful around the house. If you have lightweight artwork to hang, use floss instead of buying picture wire. During the holidays, floss can be used to string popcorn garland, to hang decorations and ornaments and to cut cheesecake or other desserts.

Now that you know these two common bathroom products are so versatile, you can work on getting through the several bottles of baby oil and cases of floss before buying new ones.
