Lakes have been discovered under the Antarctica ice sheet. Scientist are now speculating if the lakes have formed because of global warming. They lie under 2,300 feet of compressed snow and ice which in theory is too deep to be affected by surrface temperatures.

These subglacial lakes were detected by NASA's ICESat which uses lasers to penetrate deep into the ice and uncover the masteries below.
