We all know that ethanol is being used in fuels; however, scientists are now researching the possibilities of using it as alcohol for beverages, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products. Their research will focus on new technologies to purify the element because even though the ethanol used in fuel is yeast-fermented like beverage alcohol is, it still must be further purified for human consumption. Even though, today, the demand for ethanol in the automotive industry is high, who knows what new automotive fuels could take over the industry. That is why scientists are looking for new uses for this element.
