turtle.jpgAn arctic blast of cold in an arm of the Golf of Mexico caused sea turtles bodies to start shutting down and 36 washed ashore. They were revived by a little tropical vacation under heat lamps. These turtles were placed under these lamps until their eyes opened and they began to move again. The turtles are now swimming contently in 50-square-foot tanks until they can be released back into the gulf, which will probably be another week as another cold front is expected.

The last time a sudden cold snap caused turtles to wash ashore was in December 2004.
