LOL Well, honestly, Stavy, I did think you were male for a long time. Stav has a very strong connotation to it. Adding the ‘y’ softens it some.

lol. thanks Orrymain! i think…..

Actually my name is more common in the male version… ‘Stavros’… i am named after my grandmother who was ‘Stavroulla’. Almost always shortened to stav or stavy…

It’s interesting to see how our names evolve. It actually used to be so simple; now it’s more complicated than ever.

mine is a very traditional and common name for Greeks.. with religious connotations much like the names Mary, Joseph, Peter etc. ‘Stavros’ is the crucifix cross

My ‘real’ name is fairly common. My screenname is more unusual, though there are a few out there.

I guess I’m lucky here then… because Katharina isn’t generally misunderstood BUT when it’s spam mail or spam posts, it never matters anyhow. :-)

LOL In the old days it was just names like Pat that could be miscontrued. Today, who knows!

Some names are so pretty and some capture my fascination. Others make me go ‘huh’?

yes, like some of the names that movie stars give their kids. Poor little ones, they have to grow up with a name that was cutesy at one time and not so much as they get older.
