Oceangypsy, I also had three children. I love them more than I could ever explain and I couldn’t imagine being without them, but in retrospect I think two would have been the ideal number. You can hold two hands, cuddle two children, hold two children on your lap, there is a big difference between two and three. |

I tend to agree, but hindsight is not really helpful in this case. As long as they are loved, nurtured and wanted they will do OK. I could have planned better, I didn’t expect to have 3 at university at the same time! You don’t think of those things when you are starting a family, but you should because it is seriously expensive. |

I think there is a disadvantage to planning everything so thoroughly though. I like the surprises of life. |

In some ways I would agree with you Orry Main, but unfortunately life can turn up some nasty surprises as well as the nice kind. So a sensible person plans ahead especially when it comes to parenting matters. |

I would agree with Orry Main in that it is important to enjoy the here and now and not plan every last detail, but as a parent it is really important to plan ahead for the big things and to guard against those nasty surprises that can crop up. |

When it comes to children we do need to plan. We need to be able to provide for them, esp for their futures. At the same time, life does have a way of sending surprises! Our 3rd baby was a wonderful surprise! |

Finding out that I will have three children at university at the same time was not such a nice surprise! (but I am very proud of them). It is seriously expensive! |
