Does it matter to you if products are tested on animals? |

If I am honest yes and no. When it comes to ordinary things like soap, shampoo etc I do my very best to only buy things that have not been tested on animals. However if someone I loved needed urgent medical treatment or medication I would not reject it if I knew it had been tested on animals. |

I wish I could say yes with a clear conscience. I do try my best to avoid products that have been tested on animals, but I take medication that I believe was tested on animals years ago. It is not always an easy choice. |

I do not like to buy products that are tested on animals but sadly sometimes I have to. |

I do my best to avoid animal tested products, but like everyone else has said, some items are difficult to avoid. |

I know it is not easy. I’ve started to check out more companies on this issue, though, and not support them by not buying any of their products. |

I am much more careful now about checking to see if products have been tested on animals. We can’t do much about what has happened in the past, but I can’t see why animals should have to suffer just for us to have cosmetics and toiletries. |

I’m on the fence about this… I took several science classes in college & science is still my favorite thing in the world. I totally see the scientists point of view about animal testing, plus I know that the FDA regulates what animals they can test on & where they can get them. I know for a fact that some animals for testing are bred specifically for that, my college helped provide some animals. On the other hand, I love animals & really don’t like the fact that they are tested on. I just couldn’t imagine any of my pets being tested on & I’ve had several different types of pets through the years. |

I agree with you on that Phoenyxstarr. I don’t like it that they are tested on. It does bother me but sometimes I just can not get buy without buying something that was tested on animals. |

As far as I am concerned breeding some animals specifically for testing is no excuse at all. No life at all would be better than that sort of existence. Don’t forget that the world extends far beyond USA and when FDA and similar bodies in other countries make rules, it doesn’t stop animal testing it pushes it to other places where there are fewer rules and animal welfare is not considered. I (very reluctantly) accept that animal testing is sometimes needed for medical research etc, but I think it is totally wrong that it should be used for other things. |

I do my best to avoid products that are tested on animals, but like other people, I sometimes can’t avoid it. Usually for medications. There are a lot of non-animal tested products like soap, makeup, etc.. on the market (at least here), so that shouldn’t be difficult for anyone to do. |

It can be difficult because unless you go shopping with a magnifying glass it is hard to read all the details on the labels. |

Oh true. I often research stuff beforehand so I didn’t think of that. |

There is also the question of things that have been around for a while. They may not be tested on animals now but they were when the thing was developed. I am not sure we ever get told that. |

Yes, I’ve actually been thinking about that deltic1. If a product was tested on animals years ago and the company has since stopped animal testing, is it okay to use the product? As much as I hate to say it, I think it’s okay in that case because you can’t change the past, only the future. But I know some people who would disagree with me on this. |
