So I’ve heard that there is a new sign of ecologically troubled times – brown clouds. Apparently they’re smog drenched clouds. I don’t remember all the details, but they are a problem over the Eastern hemisphere, I believe. Has anyone else heard about this? Do you remember more of the details? |

I have never heard of this, but it sounds totally possible. Smog hangs like a brown mist over alot of our cities. I don’t know why it can’t form into clouds. |

I have never seen this either and honestly I hope that I never do see it. I would think that this would happen if there is an abundance of pollution or smog. |

I have not heard anything about this, smog is not a new thing, they had a lot of problems with smog in the 19th and early 20th century. |

I have never heard of brown clouds but I am not surprised at the concept. It is possible that pollution could form into clouds, I suppose. |

Thick brown clouds of soot, particles and chemicals stretching from the Persian Gulf to Asia threaten health and food supplies in the world, the U.N. reported , citing what it called the newest threat to the global environment. The regional haze, known as atmospheric brown clouds, contributes to glacial melting, reduces sunlight and helps create extreme weather conditions that impact agricultural production, according to the report commissioned by the U.N. Environment Program. |

The brown cloud that covers South Asia for most of each winter is responsible for the deaths of approximately 340,000 people in India and China every year from related cardiovascular and respiratory problems. Some studies have put the figures much higher, possibly even into the millions. The cloud is also contributing to climate change in Asia and is affecting the area’s climate as much, if not more, than carbon dioxide, as the soot particles in the cloud absorb sunlight, which contributes to a rise in temperature ___________ |
