I think that nuclear accidents, whether by earthquake or any other reason, always need to be a concern. I’m close enough to a plant to worry if there’s a problem there but it becomes a part of life.

We might get tsunamis because of our location, but what makes anyone think we couldn’t have a nuclear disaster? We nearly did with 3 Mile Island. The exact setup could be different, but we’re as vulnerable as anyone.

I don’t think that the exact same conditions that happened in Japan would happen here. But individually, yeah they could happen & if they happened close enough to a nuclear plant then we might have problems.

I’m not old enough to remember Three Mile Island & I have learned a bit about Chernobyl so I have some ideas about what can happen with nuclear disasters. I’m not really for or against nuclear energy right now though. I have some chemistry & physics knowledge, not enough to even think I’m an expert on the matter though.

Exactly. People are taking shortcuts everywhere. I don’t doubt it at all that safety checks and such aren’t being done with vigilance, not in today’s economy.
