I make an effort to only purchase organic US products. What good is organic if it has traveled across the world?

Agreed on purchasing local. It is a good idea to avoid products from other countries, as one does not know what their standards are.

Labeling can be deceiving. A product can say contains organic ingredients and have only one organic ingredient. I always look for the USDA seal….it is either green or black.

That’s exactly the problem. You can’t even trust a label. They are designed to mislead.

Many places slap ‘organic’ in the description just to part the gullible from their money…

It’s consumer confusion. How do you know what to believe anymore?

‘organic’ bananas still have to be shipped from half way around the world.. locally grown non organic apples are more eco friendly…

It’s just too bad things have to be so complicated. I had a bag of something that said it was made with all natural potatoes, but there was nothing that explained that or proved it to me on the box.

lol.. is that as opposed to ‘unnatural’ potatoes Orry Main? The mind boggles!

Good point and it proves my point. What was that line supposed to mean exactly? It didn’t tell me squat but it sure tried to sell me on it.

Food labeling is so vague all the times and these companies can get away with it. I always laugh at things like seeing a 7up can that says natural flavors. LOL

the legislation needs to be tightened up and a set of international tough guidelines need to be adopted by all countries to make these things clearer…

I am with you there stavy. I think making all the countries agree would be quite the challenge though. LOL

I totally agree….there can easily be international standards of labelling especially when it comes to organic and when every other company is claiming that what they sell is ‘organically grown’

It would be great to see all countries on the same page as far organics and natural products goes.
