Yes, the Christmas cards that you only know they were meant for you by the address. Those are very impersonal.

I never send Christimas cards anyway because postage is getting so expensive I think that sending eCards is a good, environmentally sustainable (if impersonal) option.

Making your own ecards is also a great option.
Getting cards that just have the persons name is very impersonal, esp. when they are pre-printed! Now,that is ok for business, not personal.

I hate getting cards with your name printed even from business….it seems if they would want to send me a card, which is a personal thing….they can atleast write my name and their name with hands…

I mean to have the name of the business pre printed. Not the name of the person they are sending it to.
Either way, the whole thing seems so wasteful to me. What is the purpose of sending cards? It seems that there are so many other effective ways to keep good relations with businesses.

The world is so impersonal anymore that I think that’s why some folks react to anything imprinted. I agree it’s a waste to just have an imprinted name.

rat raced, I needed it yesterday, hurried world we live in has become quite impersonal. Perhaps if more people slowed down and saw things as they really are and learned to appreciate the little things in life…..
ok, stepping off soap box

we stopped sending christmas cards years ago..

Pointless waste. Years ago we’d save up all the cards and with crimping shears cut them up to make gift tags and bookmarks and stuff like that.

I’ve used old cards as note pads and things and sometimes I’ve saved the pictures but more times than note, they’ve been trashed.

A local school used to ask people to pass on old cards, so the kids could use them in arts and crafts classes for collages and decoupage etc.. but they’ve stopped now, which is a shame as i still get a few. I tend to use them as bookmarks as I really hate the corners of my books being bent over.

Computers have taken that over. However, there are still a lot ‘old school’ folks who ask for them sometimes.

I know of a school that still teaches kids to reuse the old cards and therefore we always have a bundle for them to use for craft projects…it is really a worthwhile atttempt.

every little bit helps atulag. Millions of people doing one little thing each, is more effective than one person making a grand gesture.

speaking of christmas cards….what ideas do you all have about the christmas tree…how do u reuse or recycle it?

I love Christmas trees, but in recent years, we’ve gone to a small fake one that is lit and is ultra pretty. Now for kids, I really think a family should go all out with the real thing while they are young.
