My local grocery market just did a big thing promoting their produce sections which include 20 feet of “organic” and “local” produce. This store is a chain in California. So, I was just curious and followed the link for more info. They had a lot of stuff there, but what was interesting were the comments. People were full of questions, primarily wanting to know the store’s definition of those words. For example, how local is local. It really was fascinating. |

It is nice that people are asking those questions, I just hope that the answers will not disappoint them. |

The thing is I’m not sure there are answers. I didn’t see any there, and that was disappointing, too. |

You are right Orry Main. As we have discussed before it is almost impossible to pin down the meaning of organic. As for local, in the case of meat was it reared locally throughout or was it just slaughtered locally? Once you start asking questions you find that more questions come to mind. |

The nice thing about the farm shop is that they are specific about exactly where produce comes from and how it is reared. |

It’s almost like there needs to be a sign that states that in a very visible way. |
