Ocean energy is the best option for those concerned about the damages done to the world by the fossil fuel energy. The fossil fuels emit a great deal of harmful gases to produce energy. And their availability is also limited. But this is not so in the case of renewable sources of energy.

Renewable sources of energy like the ocean energy are growing in popularity because of its huge scope. Ocean power technologies are based on the well known principle of hydrodynamic physics and electrical engineering. There is a vast amount of energy present in the waves caused b the wind blowing above water. In fact, the wave power present is calculated around 2-3 million mega watts around the coastlines of the world.
Ocean Wave Power
is found to be so huge that it can power up to 10% of the total energy demand. The ocean wave energy can be captured from the surface waves using point absorbers. It is calculated that only 0.2% of the energy present in ocean has been tapped till date.

Yes, ocean energy is good, but I do not think lot of efforts are done in this regard. Also what about low tides and high tides. What happens then with the amount of energy generated?

I think wind energy is a bit more reliable than wave energy. I am curious about the machines that would gather this energy.

It takes research. I’ve been watching this old tv series – Sea Hunt – and there was a show that talked about what the ocean can do.

Ocean energy sounds like a great renewable form of power, but I don’t know anything about it. I’m going to have to read up on this form of energy.

This is an interesting concept. The ocean can be unpredictable at times, I wonder how this would impact the technology?

far from land, out in the open water, the oceans are pretty stable actually, so the problem would just be the transmitting of gathered energy over long distances..

No tides and stuff to worry about in the middle of the ocean…

Ahh yes, that is true stavy. Our oceans are vast and have so many resources to offer.

We really need to work on harnessing these alternative energies though. If we don’t, future generations will be very sorry.

I agree Orry. There are so many natural resources that are available that do not harm the earth. We just need to change our habits and also develop ways to use them effectively.

Keeping Big Oil from holding back the technology is the biggest challenge. They don’t want cheaper alternatives available.

This has really become apparent in the past few years. It makes no sense that all cars aren’t electric or on an alternative fuel, given the advancements in technology.

it makes perfect sense if you are the Chairman of [insert big oil name here] Petroleum.

I heard Obama is lifting the ban on offshore drilling soon. I think that is a shame. He’s going the wrong direction.

Even Obama isn’t brave enough to go against the people who really run America…
