I am looking for ways to make sweet potatoes. Anyone have any good recipes that they could share with me? |

I have never tasted sweet potatoes but I sometimes see them when shopping, it would be nice to know what to do with them. |

I love sweet potatoes. My favorite way to have them is to bake them in the oven. I scrub them clean first and then use a fork to prick the skin several times. Put them in a hot oven, 400 degrees is good. Then bake until center is soft. Love them this way. |

I have tried them mashed, they are good this way. I also like sweet potato fries. I make those in the oven. So yummy! |

I don’t think I’ve had sweet potato fries. These days all I get are Ore Ida or whatever is at the fast food places. |

I think I’ve seen the frozen kind at Target, but I usually get them at vegan restaurants. (Random, but tasty!) |

I have had both mashed sweet potatoes & sweet potato fries. I’ve never had a baked sweet potato before but I bet it would be good. My absolute favorite way to make sweet potatoes is candied though. Just like candied yams at Thanksgiving but use sweet potatoes instead. |

I am sure this is a really dumb question, but are they much different in taste from ordinary potatoes, and do you treat them in the same way in terms of peeling them etc? |

Yes, they are sweeter than regular potatoes. They are actually more nutritious than potatoes. They are baked or cooked very much like potatoes though, you can eat the skin or peel them. |

The texture is different also. Regular potatoes are more starchy, they are a bit drier. I love sweet potatoes, some good cooking ideas here. |

So far my favorite way to make them is in a casserole. It has some brown sugar it in and just tastes amazing. |

I am certainly going to try them, I wonder how they compare to potatos price wise? |

I buy the canned ones a lot and they are about $1.50 for a large can. |
