It’s about time to buy those not-cheap Girl Scout Cookies again, but the reason it qualifies for a post is that their thank you cookie has new eco packaging in that it’s not in the cardboard box anymore but in a smaller wrap packaging. They only did the one brand this year; next year they hope to do all their varieties that way.

Ah, good to know. At least it’s a start. Wonder why they decided on such a small start to be greener?

That’s interesting. I guess small steps are always good!

They said they wanted to give people a chance to get used to the change and that next year they hoped to have the new packaging on all their cookies. Personally, I just don’t think anyone would have been turned off by it.

I don’t either… people adapt and I hope that most people would be wise enough to know that what’s in the package hasn’t changed.

And when you go grocery shopping, there’s new packaging there all the time.

One would think people would want to buy more since the company is making an effort to be eco friendly. That is true, many companies do advertise new packaging.

When I worked at a drugstore, I knew a ton of people who would react negatively to packaging changes, even when the product was the same. Of course the drugstore was in a city of people age 55 and up, so a lot of them were set in their ways.

Well, maybe they know what they are talking about then. I suppose people might think they were being shortchanged.

Yeah, people will think “smaller package = less product.” Which … they might give you less product anyway, I don’t know. A lot of companies will give you slightly less product when they change the package.

Still though, I don’t think it makes much sense to change only one type. They should have got it over with at once, possibly with a label saying that you get the same amount of product (if that’s the case).

I mean, we usually only buy Thin Mints, so I doubt I would have known about the new packaging if I hadn’t read about it here.

well it might just be that since they already have a pile of the old style wrapping, have used it all up first.

Less waste.

Yeah, that makes sense too!

That’s why the packaging actually says something like ‘same size, same great taste, less packaging’.

Does it for the Girl Scout cookies? That’s good. I haven’t seen the new packaging yet.

They are just starting to sell them, but they showed pictures of the new packaging and the cookies being shipped out.
