Would you buy a hybrid or even an all electric car? It’s interesting that here the hybrids don’t get to use the car pool lane anymore.

Really? Talk about encouraging people to think about the environment….

We have decided that our next car will be a hybrid… We have test driven a Toyota Prius and like it very much. It is a little expensive though so it probably won’t be for another year or so.

Yeah, the rule just changed earlier this summer I believe. I think a lot of folks complained about all the single occupant cars in those diamond lanes.

I wouldn’t buy either, mostly because i have read some very bad reviews and reports. Also they are very expensive and the running costs are much higher when you factor in servicing and parts.

I wouldn’t buy one for exactly the reasons Justontime gave. So far there is not enough provision for charging electric cars so it is not a realistic option anyway.

electric cars maybe not… the technology is not advanced enough yet… but hybrids definitely… the Prius is more expensive to buy, but it has cheaper runnning costs, and lower insurance…

The charging would be a big issue for me. I’ve yet to see one where I live.

We have a Toyota Prius. I love it. It is a fun little car to drive and we have had no issues with it at all.

I’d love a hybrid, but I can’t afford one. An electric car wouldn’t be practical for me right now. (To start with, I live in an apartment complex and would have no way to charge it.)

I have mixed feelings about the hybrids and the carpool lane thing.

I was reading the other day about the car pool lane and hybrids. I wonder why they changed that?

I have been seeing some electric cars in our small town. I have seen 3 of them here in the past month. Not sure if I would want one, but the are neat.

I really think it depends where you live. I haven’t seen any electric cars at all locally. We don’t have car pool lanes. It is not something I would want, my life is far too complicated as it is.

In California at least, the stickers for the carpool lane expired and I believe they’re going to release more in a few months for newer (probably even more fuel-efficient/clean) cars. If too many cars can drive in the carpool lane, it defeats the purpose, which was why they limited the number of stickers released in the first place.

The carpool lane does make things more complicated, but it can cut your commute in half in some circumstances. At least in the Orange County/ LA area…

I wonder if it would do more good to invest resources into having people work from home or closer to home rather than focusing on people driving to work.

My friend on facebook has a hybrid. I love it and want one but can not really afford one.
