CTV News has a story claiming that in some cities, drinking plain tap water is safer than drinking bottled water! Plus, it’s 3000 times more expensive, according to the article. The research was done by the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, and a full report is on their website here: |

Hey Raptor, Remember what I was telling you about “environmental racism” here in the United States. I think Canadians probably already know that the U.S. already has issues with hatred and racism. Well, many minorities and poor people have to boil their water because it’s disgusting. A lot of people do this. They also advise you not to leave your water bottles in the heat because the plastic waters contaminate the water. I reuse my water bottles with (as much as possible) purified water or boiled water that has cooled and then I recycle the ones that I don’t use anymore. What do you do? RED |

That’s great. We don’t have recycling bins at the apartment complexes in my city. We also don’t have a communal recycling place. Only houses have accompanying recycle bins. I don’t let this deter me, so I go to my friend’s house and use her bin. Rachie |

It’s incredible how we now have come full circle on this bottled water thing. |

Fluoridation is another hot button issue. It does improve kids’ teeth but at what (health) cost? Maybe I’ll do some research… ;D |

I can believe that. I’ve never been a fan of bottled water. It tastes strange and isn’t worth the cost. Most of the water I drink comes from the tap. Now, I acknowledge that it’s probably not much better, but I take what I can get in a society of lesser and greater evils. |

still I think drinking water that’s not 100% pure is good for you.. you want your body to build up some immunity to minor bacteria or otherwise you’ll be sick all the time… |

The only time I’ve drunk bottled water in any amount was when I was in Georgia (the country not the state) and that’s because the local water really didn’t agree with me and I was seriously starting to loose weight! All the water out of their was from wells, I was fine until they changed wells (they were running low) and a load of us got ill. |

Besides the water, what really gets me is all the people who drink bottled water and never reuse a single bottle. Just because something isn’t brand new, doesn’t mean it’s not good anymore. I wonder how much money one can actually save just by drinking tap water with a reuseable bottle. Not to mention the other benefits. As money seems to be foremost on people’s minds, any ideas how much one can save? |

My family does that, refills bottles with tap water. It’s important to wash them out between uses, though. |
