That spin makes me sick. I understand about the politicians wanting to look good; that’s universal. I would still applaud anything that *actually* makes a country ‘greener’. Could it be done better? Probably, and that’s where the green experts should be working with the politicians.

The problem with spin is that everyone is doing it, politicians, journalists, so called experts, they are all at it. Trying to make themselves look good or make others look bad and trying to promote their own scheme (which may have more to do with money saving or making them seem important than good science. That is why we don’t believe anything we hear, it takes time and effort to work out what is truth and what is spin and most of us don’t have time for that. Some issues are so important that everyone should work together on them.

I hate spin. I really do. That’s why I just shut so much of the propaganda off, be it commercials or politicians.

I think it has that effect on most people, that is why it is so important not to let important conservation information get ‘lost’ in spin and political posturing.

I’ve done the same, Orry Main. I’m not nearly as much into news and politics as I used to be. When you can read or hear something and know which “side” it came from because of the angle of the spin and be right every time, it’s time to give it up… and I did.

I agree, deltic1… you’d think these issues of being good to the earth and living a lot more green-oriented would be universal and exempt from the posturing but no such luck. Maybe some day, eh? I just hope it won’t come too late.

I think it has got us all to the point that we don’t believe anything, so with important green messages people are very unsure about what to believe.

I can’t stand politics anymore. No one tells the truth.

Some great posts here. Being good to the earth needs to be balanced with making smart decisions. The better energy plan website is a good way of reading up on facts that are going to help us down the road. If you haven’t I suggest doing it!

The thing is, how do I know that they are facts and not just theories? I am not being difficult, I am just posing the question that most people would ask.
