How do solar panels work? I know photons hit something and make something happen, but I have no idea what it is. My boss has chartered me to make him a solar powered laptop charger from scratch, cause he knows I like to invent things.

I can’t give you the answer, but I think if you search google, you’ll find lots of DIY forums that can.

There is a wealth of info on solar panels on line. Also, I have seen kits to make your own.

Solar panels are becoming more popular. I have learned that there is an incentive in putting solar panels on your home. The initial cost is what is holding us back.

Most utilities in the U.S. have incentives for going solar. It varies from city to city as to what that is though.

Yes, I have looked into the incentives and they look good. Just waiting until it is within our price range.

It’s the same over here… everyone is jumping on the bandwagon…

local councils will even pay half the cost of insulating etc…

I am hoping that this trend continues and it becomes affordable to all. It would be wonderful if every home was solar.

The longer time passes the more affordable it should be, as long as the technology continues to improve.

That is true Orry Main. I was just remembering how far along cell phones have come. A friend of mine had one 15 years ago and it was a monster. She had to have it though as she had a special needs child and she had to be reachable at all times. The phone was huge, it was like a small brief case….hehe

Elf, my first cell phone was big, but it fit in my purse. My second one was half that size. Now I have a small one. It’s been an amazing transformation.
