Obama gave a speech this morning that included discussion of America’s oil dependency. I was actually very disappointed. Yes, he said we need to reduce it, but while he acknowledged alternative power sources, it felt like an afterthought to me. |

Yeah, I agree. I didn’t get to see the actual speech, but I read the transcript after. |

I guess I shouldn’t have expected more. Politicians do not like specifics. |

No they do not like to get into specifics. But it is their job so they should be able to tell us more. |

They avoid the specifics because they are not the only one that makes a decision on it. Always easier to dance around an idea than to be straight forward about it. |

They do love to dance. Frankly, I’m sick of them. I wish the public would just toss them all out and vote for college students. |

Now all the talk about increasing nuclear power as we are witnessing what is happening in Japan! Crazy stuff. I was only hoping that such an event would make the govt reconsider even using nuclear power at all. |

With so many other options for energy it is amazing that nuclear is even considered. What is even worse, there are a number of plants located here in California. |

Yes! There are a ton and we’re on a major fault line. If you read the news articles, the fault line will break, the nuclear power plants will fail, and a giant tsunami will hit us. Basically any day now. I’m in Southern California so I’m pretty much doomed, apparently. I found a website that will tell you whether or not you are in fatality range if a nuclear power plant fails. It’s very comforting– if I’m at my apartment here, I’m only within injury range. If I’m any further south (at my parents’ house, for example), I’m in fatality range. |

Would you mind to share the website? I am all about the gloom and doom. hehe |

I was so happy when they shut down the one that is pretty much in my backyard. Still there is one about 2 hours away so if it’s gonna blow, I’m still out of here, as they say. |

Sure, no problem! The website is: webthing (dot) greenpeaceusa (dot) org (slash) nuclear_locator It is a scary thought! I’m a little over 30 miles away from one, so while it could be worse, but it’s still not great. The city I grew up in (and parents/ friends still live in) is a lot closer though. |

Politicians are best at dancing around the subjects. Or getting your to believe that they are going to do something but then do they ever? NO! |
