I would love to save energy. We try to keep our usage down, but it is a challenge with most everyone home and DH works at home also. |

I wonder what it is. Not turning on the A/C works. Since getting my whole house fan, I turned on the A/C once, for an hour, and that was only because I’d been working and was sweaty and needed to collapse on the bed and just be super cool. |

Using the AC does really raise the energy bill every month. We have been fortunate with a mild summer to not need it very much this year. |

It is ridiculous what it costs to run the A/C. It’s criminal. |

I find that keeping the televison switched off helps too…;) nowadays after dinner we make it a point to switch the tv and go for a walk or play a game outdoors…helps save electrical enenrgy and loose the extra calories we build around the waste….:) |

That is a good point atulag. It is much healthier, for the planet and ourselves, to spend time out doors! |

Really working on teaching the kids to turn off the TV when not watching it. We have to work on hubby too, he is so bad about leaving the TV on. |

Actually that’s what is part of the problem with kids today. They are too wound up in video games. They need to get off the sofa. |

Kids do spend much more time indoors than we ever did as kids. Many parents work out of the home and then there is the issue of safety that keeps many kids inside. |

I think the problem lies with us adults too…we think if the kids are playing video games or watching cartooons they will bother us less….and that is how tv becomes an addiction….if we push them to go out and play, read a book or do something more creative…the habit may stick in adulthood too…saving electricty too in the lon run…. |

I know we are guilty of wasting energy and having our electric bill sky rock in the colder months. Big mistake buying a house with electric heating. |

There is a bit of a catch 22 because it is no longer safe to let the kids play out front. We need good backyards, but I know so many don’t have those. |
