Time had a feature piece this week about organic vs conventional food. It was interesting. Taste goes to conventional just about every time, as does price. Health goes to organic because of the chemicals and toxins. This isn’t an unexpected result, but it was an interesting read anyway. |

I have to say that I disagree, as organic does taste much better. The only difference is that organic does not last as long on the shelves as it does not have wax coatings. Also, organic sells less due to the price so it goes bad faster. |

Maybe it has to do with what you are brought up with and know as ‘normal’. |

I think it does have a lot to do with what we are used to. My oldest son will have mild reactions to eating certain non organic foods. |

Here’s the latest thing. I’m a Pepsi lover. Right now they have out Pepsi Throwback, which is the old recipe. Well, I’ve been drinking the new one for so long that I’m used to it now and the old one that I drank for years tastes weird. |

Before the use of chemicals and hybrids…there was surely only organic around…so it is just going back to the past and growing food that is much closer to how nature made it….that way organic has to taste better…. |

I agree atulag. Also in many countries, food just is organic. It is just always grown that way. |

I would consider organic as having a higher nutritional value as the soil is cared for properly. Organic farms are usually smaller and they rotate crops and nourish the soil more than larger conventional farms do. |

I agree that our way of farming and producing food is not healthy. I wish we had a way of supporting those better farms than we do. |

OrryMain, look to see if there is a food co op in your area. They are becoming quite popular. This is a good (and low cost!) way to get local, organic produce. |

See if there is an Abundant Harvest Organics in your area. I heard that they were stretching to other areas of California. We have been very happy with them. |

There’s nothing close to me. Things are done more further out; it’s not convenient unfortunately. |

Just keep checking, as it is growing very quickly. The demand is incredible. From what I understand their delivery area stretches from upper central California to San Diego. |

Encouraging organic farmers is the only way we can ensure abundance of supply and cheaper rates…it would be a good idea to plan a neighborhood meeting and ask all neighbors to buy organic or maybe get supplies in wholesale from an organic farm…. |

That is a great idea atulag. I also like to read stories about communities that started neighborhood gardens. |
