Do you sleep with the TV on at night? We have a TV in our bedroom and my fiancee has to have it on all the time. I could do without but he has to leave it on all night. Drives me crazy!

Not unless I fall asleep with it on somehow. I don’t watch that much TV. I’m addicted to my computer instead!

I can not fall asleep with the TV on. Hubby can and he often does this. They when I turn the TV off he wakes up and says, “hey, I was watching that.” LOL

I don’t have television in the bedroom at all, it would drive me mad. I do have the radio on at bed time so I sometimes fall asleep with it on, but I have it on a one hour timer so that it doesn’t waste electricity.

I don’t have TV in the bedroom but I have occasionally fallen asleep with the bedside light on, perhaps I should have that on a timer.

I used to always fall asleep to something, either the TV or the radio. But I’ve slowly gotten out of that habit. My husband can’t fall asleep without hearing something, so we usually put a DVD in & cover the TV with a shirt so that the screen doesn’t light up the bedroom. He’s also sensitive to light so if the shirt isn’t over the TV, he can’t sleep at all. Our little ones have a TV in their room (no matter how many times, I take it Daddy just gives it back to them, gah!) and they are always watching TV at night. Our oldest listens to music to fall asleep.

I don’t usually have the TV on that late at night, so it’s rare for me to fall asleep while watching it. I only do if I’m sick or something.

My old roommate used to watch TV to fall asleep. It was a tiny dorm room and she’d watch musicals and stuff at 3 AM to help her sleep. It drove me crazy! Especially because she’d get mad at me if I had a desk light on or was typing on my laptop doing homework when she decided to go to bed (anywhere between 10 PM and 4 AM). At least I wore headphones.

I have to confess that I sometimes take my laptop to bed and I have been known to fall asleep sitting up with my laptop still on!

I usually have the radio on, but sometimes I do fall asleep with the TV on. It’s one or the other as a rule.

Naturalelf my fiancee will do this as well. Drives me crazy but as soon as I power it off, he wakes up.

It drives me crazy too. I need to have the room dark and quiet to fall asleep. I also think it is wasteful to have the TV on and not be watching it.

Never… I very rarely watch tv anymore so it’s never even turned on when I’m trying to fall asleep. Our cat actually watches tv more than I do now. (True story! She loves SpongeBob, the Weather Channel, and Dora the Explorer.) :-)

justontime, I’ve fallen asleep over the laptop so many times it isn’t funny. I’ve also done it with the desktop a time or two… Talk about uncomfortable!

To stop that, I actually bought a small folding table to sit next to the bed for my laptop. This way, if I do doze off, I don’t drool on my laptop. LOL

Oh, I have fallen asleep with my laptop on. It happened somewhat frequently when I was in college and up at all hours doing stuff for the newspaper/ magazine (in addition to regular classes and homework).

natureelf, my beloved is exactly the same…

TV on full blast, him fast asleep.. i come in from my computer and turn it off.. he wakes up telling me, ‘i’m watching that’

my usual response is.. oh yes? and what just happened then?

…followed by sheepish silence…
