We have too much, and it’s changed the world too drastically. People don’t really even understand it. Think about the world of your parents, your grandparents or your grandparents. It’s radically different.

Sometimes I think that the more technology advances, the more “behind” we get. Seriously… sounds strange but things like “free time” are totally lost now because there are so many gadgets to fill up those spaces we used to use for family, reading, and so on.

I absolutely agree with Orry Main about not “being ready” for all the technology. It’s taking the place of everything else including human face to face interaction. I love it all as much as the next person, but on the bare-bones bottom line, it’s stealing a LOT of what we used to hold dear.

As a PS to my last statement, it’s not the technology at fault so much as the lack of restraint when it comes to using it. A computer game could be an awesome way to spend a fun hour… but then when one is staring at it for five hours while the world passes by, it crosses a line.

I hear scare stories about such things but I don’t know anyone who does that. My children have a very balanced attitude to computers and they prefer real interaction to virtual contact. They really enjoy their lives and if asked to choose their favourite bits I am confident that they would choose the ‘real’ rather than the virtual.

I sometimes think my husband is too ‘tied’ to his phone, but my (grown up) kids are not obsessive about computer games, they play occasionally but that is all.

So many people are glued to their phones. It’s not healthy and it’s rude to just about everyone who is around them.

It’s not healthy to use it in place of human interaction. I check my phone pretty often, but I never text/ check things when I’m talking to someone in person. If I’m waiting for someone/ in a long line at a store, I’ll sometimes take out my phone and reply to text messages/ check my email and social media sites. I always put it away when the person arrives or if I get to the front of the line. It’s rude otherwise!

I agree Orry Main, it is bad manners to be glued to a phone all the time.
