I’ve seen this covered on discovery channel many years ago… and every time I goto a beach resort I keep thinking about it… the ocean… you got constant waves… every second think how much power is generated by the ocean… we could genenrate so much electricity by utilizing our coast lines to harness that energy… anyone know if any countries are already doing that? |

Wave and Tidal Power schemes are (I think they are two similar yet different methods) good uses of renewable and clean power sources…here is an interesting link to the ol’ Wikipedia (Wiki is great…what the inter-web should have always been…free, concise yet wide ranging source of information on EVETYTHING) check out this link: link. Our poor fishermen (and women) could limit their catch on dwindling fish stocks by supplementing their income by harvesting the sea for another bounty as of yet still untapped |

It’s funny that this topic comes up, since I just watched a show the other day on CBC called the Dragon’s Den, and one of the contestants was trying to pass tidal energy off as his own idea. He wanted half a million dollars to get his idea off the ground. If this has already happened, boy will he feel stupid finding out that he’s already wasted tons of money on technology that exists already. |

The concept of wave and tidal energy has been around for decades. What we need is a cheap and effective way of implementing it. |

I guess that’s why the investors said no to the guy’s idea. He didn’t even know when he would see a return on his investment. |

Hehe yeah I can see why they wouldn’t go for it! |

Yeah, half a million is a lot of dough to be spending on something that may not see a return for 5+ years. He claimed that they would get 10% of the revenue, a million or so each year from this. I wouldn’t believe it. |

Remind me later to scan and post the article from today, oops yesterday’s 24 newspaper. There’s an article on this guy’s project that they pretty much laughed at. It would help everyone to cleaarly understand what I was trying to say before. I’ll post it when I get up later. |

Well try as I might, unfortunately I can’t find that article. It must have been in another paper. Sorry. |

I think i saw a device for harnessing tidal flow and currents before. It was shaped sort of like a strand of dna and submerged, and when the tides came in and out the water pushing past would make it spin. |

Again, tidal power has hit the news. |

Wave energy sounds very cool. I wish we’d utilize natural things like this more. |
