I consider finally getting hubby to unplug stuff without having to shout at him, to be one of my greatest achievements :D

We usually do Earth hour, but totally spaced on it this year!
LOL stavy….hubby is so bad about leaving the TV on all the time. Even when he leaves to go to the store. It drives me crazy.

that was always the hardest one for mine too… first thing he does when walking into a room is turn the tv on, even if he wasn’t intending to watch it.

Growing up, my dad would yell at me if I left the light on while I ran to the other room to grab something (even if I was going to be gone for less than a minute). But he’d have the TV on all the time, even if he was out running errands. Go figure.

For me energy conservation is a necessity because in financial terms I can’t afford the very high cost, but it is more than that, I can’t stand waste especially when resources are limited and so many people in the world do not have a fair share.

Men are big kids. Just reward them; they’ll learn. :}

allgreenrecycling makes a good point. We can be inconsistent about energy use. My husband is fussy about turning things off but I have to nag him about leaving the fridge door open for far too long.

Thanks deltic1! We can be inconsistent, I’m sure I do things that are inconsistent (i.e. use the computer all day long). I also agree that energy conservation is necessary for financial reasons as well as environmental ones. In fact, that’s a great incentive for people who aren’t as concerned about the environment.

Orry Main: That’s a good point :-)

I guess that in practical terms energy conservation involves a fair bit if nagging for me. Getting teens to turn off lights, computers, television etc and noticing when they turn the heating up so that it doesn’t get left on the wrong setting.
