If you’re someone who doesn’t buy all organic, where do you spend your organic dollars? For me, it’s generally in fresh produce, especially thin-skinned fruits that aren’t as easy to scrub off chemicals.

That’s where I am, too. I tend to lean towards organic fruits and veggies over other foods. Of course, you can go all-out. Does anyone buy organic cotton clothing?

Milk, free-range eggs, and produce. Nothing else matters. Although with produce, I usually go to the farmstand anyway, so while that’s organic, it’s not that expensive.

I generally tend to spend the money which isn’t gone for organic food on some pulses and spices along with few vegetables at a specific farms.

I don’t get anything in our place that can be specified as Organic and so I can’t answer this question exactly as I generally buy every stuff in the near by super market.

Check out the Dirty Dozen List to find which fruits and veggies contain the most pesticides, etc.

Lyndsey, that is a great list.
I try to buy as much organic as I can. Also keep in mind that (not organic) corn and soy are often GM crops so it is important to try to go organic here.

That’s a really good point. I’ve heard that the corn that exists today is very far removed from its original wild ancestor. I suppose also since it is sometimes used for fuel too, there’s pressure to grow lots of it quickly, so chemical fertilizers and pesticides must play a big role.

I agree with Emiglia. Organic milk tastes sweeter to me, even the 1%.
Organic eggs taste fresher, and doesn’t seem as “pasty”; I can’t think of another word to describe it.
Produce, as much as possible, especially the thin-skinned fruit, bananas, lettuce, carrots (much yummier), whatever is on special that week.

I try to buy organic whenever possible.

I’ve heard that strawberries and peaches are two of the worst when it comes to heavy pesticide use. They have thin skins so it it would seem the pesticides could permeate the surface. So I don’t buy peaches or strawberries that are not organic.

I don’t routinely buy organic but I do buy certified free range local food. I try hard to buy good local food and I have found that I can do without a surprising amount of things (organic or otherwise) that need to be brought from across the world.

I have bought organic cotton clothing and as I got it from a direct factory outlet it wasn’t that costly too…feels comfortable to wear and also good to think that I am wearing something good for the earth…

I do worry about buying clothes, it is so hard to know if the people who produced the material and made the garments have been treated fairly, we hear so many stories about exploitation.

Organic is my choice too. Going Organic really worth it. I like linkbecause of their great taste. And also you can avoid toxins by eating organic produce. The main thing is Environmentally, organic food is gentle on the earth.
