March 22nd is World Water Day

Canada and the US have continued to be the only significant players opposing water being declared a Human Right. Canada has maintained a view that water is a commodity as outlined in NAFTA and they believe it can and should be bought and sold for profit. The environmental effects on the MOST important resource to the planet is beyond belief when countries believe they are above the laws of nature. See the Aral Sea for an example.

Those in Southern Ontario are invited to join the Green Job, a non-profit organization, for a celebration of water in Ottawa and a protest in front of the Parliament buildings. For any people interested the cost is $95 with pickup points in London and Toronto. We will leave the 21st and stay at the Monterey Inn in Ottawa (one of the most eco-friendly resorts available). Anyone interested please send an e-mail to jnewell@thegreenjob.ca

Nice theme, I was wondering if an American flag at the candian water event might be appropriate. Does Canada import water under free trade, I know Michigan sells enough. I know the effluent from the Waste treatment plant in Ann Arbor is used to decompose the Landfill for “natural” gas for a return the gas folks who sell it to us. I guess the pipelines are expensive too. Same idea Eh…
Aw S_it on it. I can buy it twice. Who makes composting methane producing toilets anyway? The city of Ann Arbor has one that makes “purified Water” in the Nature House but for internal reasons “The valve is closed on that” its just for gardening with ” Project Grow”. Knowledge can be like water if you can let it flow through your hands. I’m Glad money isn’t like water!?!

I agree. I forgot that it’s this weekend. I hope the weather is good for it, it would be ironic if it rained, lol.

International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater.
