A lot of restaurants out there are dabbling in adding organic or local items to their menus, but Pizza Fusion (www.pizzafusion.com) was founded on the basis of organic cooking. Not only can you go out to get an organic pizza, but you can have it delivered!

Pizza Fusion was founded by two friends, Michael Gordon and Vaughan Lazar, in early 2006. As grocery stores like Wild Oats and Whole Foods continue to pop up everywhere, Michael and Vaughan saw a gap – the lack of restaurants catering to the organically conscience consumer. But they were committed to making the business as eco-friendly as possible, and not just the ingredients. So if you’re lucky enough to have a Pizza Fusion in your area, the pizza is delivered by what? A Hybrid! Also, they offset their energy consumption with the same amount of wind energy. And of course, their menus are printed on post-consumer recycled paper.

Their sauce is 100% organic – from the tomatoes, the sugar and even the oil used! Their vegetables? They are 100% organic too, although there are times they have to substitute for conventional items. Don’t worry though, it’s clearly marked on their menu which items are conventional. They have a gluten-free menu and the foods on there are even prepared in a separate kitchen to make sure those with allergies aren’t affected.

Of course, you can order an organic pepperoni pizza or vegan pizza, but Pizza Fusion also created several specialty pizza for someone looking for something a little different. For example, 'The Founder' is organically raised chicken, 100% organic tomato sauce, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella, Kalamata Olives, red onions on multigrain crust. Or how about the 'Surf and Turf' Pizza? At $48.00 it’s more of a gourmet meal than your typical takeout. It’s 100% certified organic New York strip, wild caught Key West shrimp, and wild caught Maine lobster.

Not only does Pizza Fusion offer pizza, but organic salad, home baked bread and organic drinks. Currently, Pizza Fusion only has two stores in Florida, but they are rapidly expanding with 20 locations coming soon.
