chris1203 asks:Air Conditioning

Do you try to limit your air conditioning use in the summer to conserve energy? (besides just simply saving money?)

High Altitude

Allows us to avoid air-conditioning, but if it were an option for us to lessen our energy usage, we surely would.

One of the very reasons...

We moved from a desert climate to a coastal climate. Here, there are only a week or so of uncomfortable weather. We left our air conditioner behind and feel all the better for it.

We use fans mostly...

but I'm not sure that that's conserving energy. In Ohio, we generally have a couple very uncomfortably hot months in the summer.

This worked great for us...

We had the good luck to stumble upon an important fact about one of our houses: if a fan was pointing into the house in the living room, and a fan pointed out of the house in our bedroom, we got a great airflow that managed to cool most of the house. We were very comfortable. It's worth a try with your fans and windows, you might find the magic combination in your house!
Fans are much more cheap to run than air conditioners...we found that out when we started out air-flow thing and got our first electric bill.
