I believe that...

in 100 years, we will, indeed, be free of all carbon-based fuels---IF we don't put off coming up with viable alternatives.

yes i think so...

contemporarily as an infinitely dependable though not being as much reliable, bacteria yielded ethonol and oil are of feasibility... and i am sure the day when cheap and easily renewable hydrogen fuel becomes a common commodity is close. other than this, solar power can be an alternative... which as of today, is not really a good one, but, if research into more efficient fuel cells could be be done, why not?

Yes, I am hopeful

I think man will be left with no choice ultimately but to go for the more renewable fuels...there is a limit to acarbon fuels and they are decreasing...if not in the next ten years...the next 100 years will be ample time to finish what is left of the carbon...

Can carbon-based fuels be totally replaced?

Many carbon based fuels can be replaced, if you mean refined products used in vehicles.

They cannot be replaced if you include the way we fuel our bodies, though. Food is carbon based.
