What are the pros and cons? There is a big push for solar energy and it would be good to know both sides of the coin... we all know there are huge benefits but are there any bad things about solar energy / solar power?

Pros and cons of solar?
The biggest "con" is that people can install their own units, which diminishes the control that energy corporations have over people and the economy.
That's a "pro" at the same time. The sun can't be denied the average person, and I don;t see corporations being able to create law limiting who can have solar units on their homes..

Here are two points to consider
There are two obstacles that come to mind. First is location since some places aren't ideally situated to receive large amounts of sunlight. Second is initial cost since solar conversion is not cheap.

As to the pro case
No doubt the relative abundance of solar as a freely renewable resource that makes no noticeable waste would be near the top of the list of reasons to turn toward it.
