The Car Industry

I believe that he has to kill as many things with one stone as possible.. if he goes after cars he can do the following..

1. Push for electric cars
2. Create Jobs by doing so.
3. Save the auto industry
4. Start keeping more cash from oil in north america
5. As a result reinvest that money back into the crumbling power grid
6. Again producing more jobs...

If the oil industry stays out of the way this is totally achievable and fast too..

Environmental Priorities?

The failing economy has presented us with a rare opportunity to change the USA.

Public works projects should focus on developing and delivering alternative fuels, without a doubt.

Environmental Issues

I tend to agree w/Bart. By pushing the electric car, this in turn could create new jobs as well as reduce enviromental pollution.

I agree, it's one focus that can solve a lot of problems and it's not too complicated.

Energy..is the need of the hour...

energy policies are really really important and need to be implemented right now....solar energy, wind energy, they are all there, but no serious business is being done about them...I think that energy issue is priority no. 1 which can inturn solve many other environmental issues....

Envriromental Issues

On second though, maybe we should also thinkg about landfills and what to do w/our garbage. At the rate we're going, the planet will be nothing but one great big dump before my great-grandchildren are born. Anyone see the movie Wall-E? Now there's the real story behind the story.
Comments:
Good point, however I still think that energy is #1 priority... we can find better ways to deal with garbage... this always gets me thinking how everything comes from the ground yet when we process stuff it makes it bad to put back in the ground...
The preservatives and additives are too much and to tell the truth, I'm not even sure how our own bodies digest it all.
