I just read an article about Intel, the company that makes microprocessors, The company is changing its business practices and will start using green technologies and production methods.

What gets me is that this is going to happen Kuala Lumpur.

Knosing that many U.S. companies stopped manufacturing and hiring in the USA because third world nations didn't, and still don't have nearly as many environmental regulations.

Is Intel really changing anything? Do you think they will try to meet U.S. standards in foreign countries?

but isn't the US

one of the worst offenders on environmental issues? They are probably going to manufacture in Kuala Lumpur because nobody in the US will...

Maybe we shoud have

Some more information on this subject. What are Kuala Lumpur's environmental laws? Does their air blow out to sea? Can they flush the arsenic and silver iodide in a more eco-friendly manner than other countries? Is money the bottom line?

it will of course make a difference

as long as their resolve doesn't falter... i don't agree with anybody who claims they are indignant and could be deceptive in such notion... after all there is no meaning in "acting" environmental consciously unless there is utter intent.

regardless of

their intent, the effect will be of doing something just a little bit better for the environment, so is therefore to be applauded..

If I'm understanding you correctly...

A very large part of the world's computers has an Intel microprocessor chip. If Intel is going to green manufacturing, even if it takes place in Kuala Lumpur, that's a good thing. This would mean that a huge percentage of a necessary computer part is being made green. Sounds good to me..

Good question

I hate to be cycnical, but I wonder if Intel is "talking out of both sides of their mouths." You know, pretending to be "green" and then not following any "green thinking" in Juala Lumpur.

Very astute,chris1203. We agree that the bottom line is all that matters to the business people.
