stavy asks:City Zoos

Do you think they still have a part to play? For a while at the start of the green movement, Zoos were villified for keeping animals in 'unnatural' surroundings and many declined and closed as funding dried up.

Zoos like London Zoo in Regents Park though, do vital and important conservation work and research, and is much respected throughout the world for it's work in protection of endangered species.

Should we be supporting them in their work?

recently, there have been a surge of stars who have been asking us to think about global warming, climate change, etc...the point is are the stars really that concerned..I mean do they themselves lead a environmental friendly life, do they switch off the lights or not waste water or recycle just as they advise us to do or are they just very good actors who can not be trusted on issues like these.
