Is the need for energy consumption mandated by our society, or might one revert to the "hunter-gatherer" way of life?

I hate to break this to you

But we consume energy by simply existing. We have to eat, we have to keep warm. All of those things require energy.

The closest you are going to come is to be Amish. Good luck and can I have your computer?

No, And trust me, I enjoy the perks that abundant energy provides! 'Twas just a hypothetical question. Your Friend

"hunter-gatherer" way of life???

Are yo really ready to go back to that life? I do not think any one will willingly go back to a life when you had to hunt for food and then eat it raw....I think it is more feasible idea to think of a system where people only use renewable sources and nothing else....

Probably not

I'm no expert, but I don't see how we can ever do away with our need for energy--unless we want to go back to the cavemen days!
