eeer i don't know

but as we can't keep from dying, it is pointless fretting about it. Just do your best to minimise your carbon footbprint while you are still living!

No, Mother Nature factors this in.

No,Decomposition can provide very tasty banquets for those wonderful Earth-Friendly janitors!!

Or should we all live forever

Good question from Taggart. It should be a wash, except buried carbon doesn't reach the atmosphere as soon as "smoke".

What about carbon emission after death?

All emissions generated on earth, including those associated with decomposition, have an affect the environment.

Decomposition is part of the natural order,

One should remember decomposition is an essential part of life, without it the cycle is null. Yes, decomposing bodies do give off carbon emissions, but carbon itself is an essential element. While the current state of affairs has upset the balance, it seems a bit contradictory to stop a natural cycle in order to restore a natural cycle. After all, we expel carbon every time we respire but that by no means makes us stop breathing.

Never thought about it...

But I agree with the above - We're stuck with it, and we should do what we can in life to try to fix the environment.

By the way, I wonder if there's a difference in the carbon emissions between decomposition and cremation of human bodies?
