I just read an article that says that our focus on the health benefits of fish are destroying the fish population which is hurting the eco-system. What do you think about this claim?

A Big Problem

We've heard that consumption of more fish equates to less red meat consumption, thus the health aspect. Heretoday is correct-over fishing (and illegal fishing practices) are a problem, but oceanic pollution is decimitating water-life in many ways.

Fish Risks

I believe that it isn't the over-fishing that is the only reason for this problem. We have been over-fishing for years, and polluting for years; this has really been shrinking the fish population for many years. We are just beginning to understand what's going on.

You could be right

It does make sense that this problem is just now coming to light with all the recent focus on environmental issues.
