HereToday asks:Is it true...?

That eating celery takes more calories to eat than there is in the celery itself?

We've Heard That

We also have heard that things like lettuce, sprouts, etc., are tasty yet lacking in calories. If only fish and avacado were calorie-free!

That's true

I have read about celery, carrots, and other foods burning more calories to chew up than the actually contain. Incredible, isn't it?

I guessed so

I haven’t done that but based on what I have heard eating celery takes more calorie because of the fiber that you going to eat every time you are chewing the celery.

I've heard this several times

Yep, I've heard this several times as well. They have practically no calories in them, so it burns more when chewing and digesting them.

Just don't add a whole bunch of dressing and it's a great snack!

good point

kitten... as with most things, it's not the food itself but the gunk you smother it in that is actually high calorie! Celery is also one of those foods you really need to munch through before swallowing, so i suppose that's how you use up the calories lol..

kitten and stavy are right.

It's the stuff you stuff them with. We prefer a bit of peanut butter on our celery.
