For a 'green' person, this is a big issue. Do you think that sometimes its better to buy locally produced conventional product rather than 'green' sourced stuff shipped from a thousand miles away? For instance.. Fair Trade bananas or locally grown apples?

A matter of affordability

Going green is one thing, but going green on a budget is another. If I can afford it, then I'd buy all organic, but when I can't then I buy local because it reduces my carbon footprints. But either way I go, I'm fine because I know I'm trying my best to help out the environment (without the unnecessary financial strains)

Local or Organic?

I would opt for locally produced foods, mainly because I like to see money remain within my own state's borders!

That way, the money has a chance at being spent for programs within my state.

Local for me...

I believe that if you buy local the food is better as a bonus... the fruits and veggies don't need as much chemicals to stay "fresh" while they travel 1000s of miles... so the local farmers I'm sure don't put as many foreign substances into the soil if they don't need to.
