Where do you get your vegetables from>? I buy nearly all of mine from a Farmers Market once a week near my home. All the produce is locally grown as well as tastier and fresher than store bought.
We are very lucky in our area to have alot of choice. There are farmer's markets, friends with big gardens, and folks who set up little stands up and down the highway. There is a wonderful couple that grow and sell cherries so sweet you want to sing!
my local market also has things like fresh barn eggs and local honey, as well as locally made sausages and breads, and lovely creamy butter. Worth going out in the 'open air' I think...
There are a couple of Farmer's Markets open during the summer months, but we usually don't have the time or energy to shop in the open air and the heat.
OMG, farmer's market butter! Try it once and you're hooked. The honey is really good as well. Our honey lady also sells beeswax candles, which I love. Burn one and your house smells like honey!
The local honey around here is lovely.. and it is a great cure for hayfever too.. They say that eating locally produced honey helps you build immunity to the local pollen, therby preventing hay fever..
I still buy my vegetables at a regular grocery store, unfortunately. I think that this summer I may look into some local farmer's markets (or roadside stands) and see what they have to offer.
