To cut down on fat, sugar, and salt in our food, many folk have turned to adding spices instead. What is your go-to spice for good flavour?

Posh, or one of her friends

The go-to-spice has been under wraps since that soccer player sold out to Los Angeles.

garlic and so much more

Some people do not like the after affects of this spice...but we love to put this in many of the dishes we make....my family just loves it....
i also use a very typical indian mix of five spices to enhance the taste of veggies...
these are cumin, fennel, mustard, coriander and onion seeds
Comments:
I like the spices usually associated with Indian dishes, but my favorite flavor is garlic.

I don't know if its actually a spice or more an herb, but I like it!

I love to put

oregano on any Italian dish. Garlic is probably my favorite, all around spice. It really adds flavor to a dish.

Pepper is a great one

Pepper can add so much flavor to an otherwise bland dish. I love using garlic, too.

instead of using salt...

i would recommend chili as it compensates the taste of salt "very well"... other than this i personally favor powdered celery and cumin

and if you consider...

using herbs to compensate for the inbalance caused by sugar fat salt etc then you should especially go for cumin, oregano and sage. these are goodies with some neat ailing effects.

here's one for you

i've invented this one... although this recipe has very little (about a pich or less) sugar in it, it tastes fabulous...

get a tablespoon of cocoa powder add a pinch of sugar and a small coffee cup of whipped cream. mix all well and then add a tea spoon of mint, a tea spoon of thyme, two pinches of cumin and a pinch of cinnamon. again give it a quick whisking then put the resulting paste in a small cup, before finally putting it in a freezer. when frozen take it out and pop it out on to a small serving plate to enjoy it as a desert!
Comments:
by the way, that cream in the recipe can be replaced by low-fat yogurt or desalinated soft feta cheese.

sounds very

interesting keewi.. but i would really have to skip the cumin...
Comments:
sad to hear... be it chocolate or cocoa, both can be allied with cumin with really great tasty results - and "little bit" sweetened cocoa or simple chocolate taste great with blue cheese too! i really do recommend.
and cumin can be replaced by ginger... i hope this helps :)
