I know there are exta costs, but surely if the supermarkets didn't pass ALL the costs to the consumer, more people would start buying organic, thereby creating a bigger market whichwould help reduce costs. Does it always have to be about greed?

Organic more expensive?

It isn't all about greed. Some of the cost is associated with shortened shelf life.

Distribution matters

It may also be that the companies that distribute organic food are smaller and incur larger costs when it comes to distribution and delivery.
